ROUTE IN KNOSSANO GORGE

Knossano Gorge grows to a length of up to 6 km. and is essentially the natural continuation of the sacred mount Giouktas. It is one of the three gorges of the Eco-Archaeological Park of Giouchtas. Stretching south of Archanes (Agios Mamas), runs through the village of Archanes in place Kato Mylos, where begins the piece is known as the Sylamiano Gorge. This piece is gorgeous with smooth koyfwtoys rocks and huge trees, and is very easily accessible by car, as the road passes through it.

Then the Gorge passing through the site Myristi, where there is the biological station of Archanes, below the sacred mountain, and continues (in parallel with the road Syllamos-Archanes) until the beautiful Karydakiani Canal Bridge. Next to the Canal Bridge is the ruined Church of the Panagia Kardiotissa, among tall cypress trees.

Continuing, the Gorge (the road now passes alongside the Gorge) arrives in Agia Irini's unique Canal Bridge in spilia and continues North passing from Knossos. The Kairatos torrent or crosses Katsambas, which passing from Agia Irini and Knossos ends up in the sea, under Katsampa. The area of the Canyon, which is called Paradise, and has been designated as a site of outstanding natural beauty and has been included in the Natura 2000 network.

The altitude difference between the input and the output is 270 meters, while to the cross does not require special equipment or special experience.
