CHURCH OF AGIA PARASKEVI IN SIVA

The Church of Agia Paraskevi is a major monument of the first centuries of Venetian rule. In Catasticum Ecclesiarum et monasteriorum Communis of 1320-1321 refers that "the inhabitants of the village of Siva attest that there is the Church of s. Veneranda (Agia Paraskevi), and the dilapidated s. Giorgio and s. Giovanni Apano Simos villages and Cato Simos ', villages which are placed near the Siva.

Indeed St. John reported that worked before the revolution of Kalergis (1283-1299), while Agia Paraskevi is referred to as tempore Graecorum IE that has existed since the times of the Greeks, the Byzantine period i.e., the older and probably indicative of the existence of the settlement. This church of Agia Paraskevi belongs to the type of one-Aisled domed church with a dome supported on four same depth bows . The Interior is entirely frescoed. There are two layers of frescoes with the second-newest layer dated to the 14th century. In the apse depicts the Virgin Blachernitissa, the evangelists in the dome and the walls the Supplication or Trimorfo, Agios Antonios, Agia Paraskevi and Agios Theodoros stratilatis. The characteristic of these murals Gerola as masterpieces. The temple is today preserved by the EBA 13th both in terms of the external walls and the second layer of frescoes inside, which really before maintenance survived in very poor condition. Downside is the fact that end because of the morphology of the ground part of the temple to the East lies beneath the modern road. It is therefore important to reveal the Church entirely.
