CHURCH OF PANAGIA IN AVGENIKI

The Church of the Panagia in Avgeniki, one of the oldest monuments in the territory of the current municipality, it is possible that it was built during the second Byzantine period (12th-13th century).
The temple belongs to storable cruciform type compact the corner apartments and has a free cross plan, while the roof was supposed to follow the shape of the cross is arched, which means that the roof was reconstructed at a later period – probably in the period of Venetian rule. Externally the Church shows that belongs to the type of one-Aisled, as are oblong with straight walls and gable roof 'kamaroskepi'. The locals now call the Church "Panagia Stratilatissa".
